John Hendrickson serves as the Managing Director and U.S. Lead for SHP Legal Services. In this capacity, he oversees the firm’s North American operations, driving strategic alignment between legal services and client business objectives. With a deep specialization in executive compensation and law firm management, John focuses on helping firms design strategies to attract and retain top talent while ensuring operational excellence.
John’s philosophy centers on collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth. Drawing on his extensive experience, he develops tailored compensation structures that incentivize performance and align with long-term organizational goals. His pragmatic approach to law firm management integrates best practices with actionable strategies, empowering clients to excel in an increasingly competitive landscape.
Before joining SHP Legal Services, John practiced law for 38 years, including at McDermott Will & Emery, an AmLaw top 50 firm. He led McDermott’s Employee Benefits and Labor Law Practice across the U.S. and Europe and served on the firm’s management, executive, and compensation committees for more than a decade. In addition to his legal career, he has served on several boards of directors, including chairing a public company’s compensation committee. John earned a J.D. from Notre Dame University Law School and a bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University, exemplifying his dedication to excellence in both education and leadership.
